Describe what you are building in a sentence. FoundName turns it into name candidates and checks each one right away on the App Store, Google Play and .com, .de and .app.
Each selected style feeds its own word pieces into generation and visibly shifts the names — even with no idea text of your own. Multiple styles combine.
Start value of the search: the same value and inputs always return the same names. A new value brings new names.
Fit the idea. Sound right – in German as well as in English. And be available where you need it. FoundName checks all three in one run.
One sentence about the idea is enough – or just a style. You see the word list it produces before the run and can edit it – or pull in more words from your ChatGPT.
Six strategies build candidates from those words. Each one is queried in five channels right away and scored for sound.
Read the verdict, star favorites, let the team vote – and take the starter kit with you.
Every candidate is queried the moment you search: App Store, Google Play, .com, .de and .app. What is free everywhere gets a verdict. What is taken does not disappear – you see where.
What the statuses meanRecording of a real run (2026-09-28). Availability is a snapshot.
Every run mixes all six. The examples come from a real run (idea: sleep and calm).
Syllables of two words recombined.
Two words merged at their sound boundary.
Curated word roots with brand-typical endings.
Two whole words, no blend.
Only candidates that sound good in both languages.
Rhyme, alliteration, acronym or semantic pairing.
A score from 0 to 100 for every name: length, syllables, vowel balance, consonant clusters, ending – checked in German and English and weighted by your market's language. The fact sheet shows what it is made of.
More about the sound scoreRun it through the same live-availability and sound analysis as the generated candidates – without starting a whole run.
Every name comes with a starter kit: wordmark, color palette and ready-made prompts for your AI tools. Generated deterministically, so it is reproducible any time – and not a trademark search, that part is on you.
What the kit is notFour steps, one run, no account. Every capability named once, at its place in the flow – including the ones without a stage of their own above.
Yes, in real money: nothing. The free tier is funded by ads (Google AdSense; whether they are personalized is your choice in Google’s consent dialog), so using the generator and name check requires allowing ads; FoundName Pro (12 months, or an amount of your choice from €2 for 3 months) is the ad-free way to support its development. You can withdraw consent at any time in the settings.
For every suggestion we query the App Store, Google Play, and the .com, .de, and .app domain endings live — not a database sync from yesterday, but the current state at the moment you search.
No, this is not a trademark search. Every name suggestion links directly into the DPMA, EUIPO, WIPO, and USPTO registers plus a web search, so you can verify that yourself before deciding.
App Store, Google Play and three domain endings depending on your target market: .com, .de and .app by default (DACH). Under "Market" you can switch to e.g. Switzerland (.ch), US (.io), UK (.co.uk), France (.fr), the Netherlands (.nl) or AI startups (.ai, .io).
"Free" means nothing was registered there at the time of the check. "Taken" means an entry already exists. "Unclear" means the lookup wasn't conclusive (e.g. a rate limit) — for those, a manual re-check is worth it.
A score from 0 to 100 for how easy the name is to pronounce and remember. It is computed separately for German and English pronunciation, since a name can flow smoothly in one language and feel clunky in the other, and then folded into one value: your market's language counts 60%, the other 40%, and a name that is hard to pronounce in either language is rated "medium" at best. It scores word length (ideal 5–9 characters), syllable count (ideal 2–3), the vowel-to-consonant ratio, unusual consonant clusters, harsh letter tripling, and the ending sound. A name's detail view shows both languages with every criterion and its points.
A score from 0 to 1 for how much a name stands out from the OTHER names in the same result list — not an absolute property of the name on its own, but relative to that one run. Close to 1 means the name is clearly different from every other suggestion; close to 0 means it's a close variant of another name in the same list (e.g. the same root with a different ending). Useful for quickly picking the most distinctive option out of several near-identical variants.
The word list is the material every name is built from – the more fitting the word stems, the better the combinations. You can remove words, type your own, or get some from your ChatGPT: below the word list you will find "More words from ChatGPT" with a ready-made prompt that includes your idea and style. Copy it or open it directly in ChatGPT – the prompt is only pre-filled there, you send it yourself in your own account, a free one is enough. Paste the reply into the field below it and click "Use these words". The words land in the list just like typed ones and feed 1:1 into the next run. Words you add also go into the self-learning word pool, so later runs on the same topic benefit from them.
The starter kit is a first draft, not finished branding: a simple SVG wordmark, a matching color palette and three ready-made prompts to brief a coding agent, an image generator or a writing assistant. Everything is derived without AI from the name and your style tags, so the same name always yields the same kit. With Pro, an AI creates a designed logo in the details drawer, as a clean vector graphic (SVG) in your brand colors. Not included: a trademark or legal check, and any guarantee that the colors are not already used by others. Open the kit from the results table via the wand icon next to a name.
The start value (under "Fine-tuning", technically called a seed) sets how the randomness is shuffled. The same seed, count, and inputs reproducibly generate the same name list — handy for revisiting a list later or sharing it with your team.
Yes — "Check your own name" runs it through the same live-availability and sound analysis as the generated suggestions, without needing to start a full run.
Star favorites and click "Let the team vote". FoundName creates a link with up to 20 names; whoever opens it votes for one name without an account and can leave a comment. Votes and comments show up in your favorites rail, and every vote stays reachable there with its link. Favorites from earlier runs of the same project can be included.
Every run belongs to a project – FoundName creates it from your idea, and you can rename it. Under "History" you find all runs grouped by project, reload any of them, compare two, and delete what you no longer need. Favorites and votes stay together inside the project. No account means everything is tied to this device and browser.
No account, no cost. The first run only needs a sentence.
